San Francisco, Here We Come!

By Julie Sneed, itSMF USA® Fusion 08 Committee Chair
Fusion 08 Chair Julie Sneed states the feedback attendees provided last year was taken to heart as the Conference Committee strives to make this year’s conference our best yet!

The itSMF USA® Fusion 08 Conference Committee Chairs met in San Francisco in March to get a sneak peek at the Moscone Center North, finalize our program, and prepare San Francisco for our arrival in September. Two-and-a-half days of discussion, negotiation, and fun resulted in what we consider the best program yet. Our attendees will embrace the spirit of itSMF USA® with a program consisting of 80 sessions, 13 workshops, 4 simulation test runs, 7 training classes, 5 exceptional keynotes, a show floor with more displays than ever, unlimited networking opportunities, and much more.

In order to finalize these exciting opportunities for our attendees, our conference committee began the planning process in September 2007 (just after itSMF USA® Fusion 07 concluded). We used documented processes for all selections, and worked to improve the selection process for future years. Many hours of planning enabled us to complete the Call for Presentations (CFP), Call for Training (CFT) and Call for Simulations (CFS).

After spending countless hours ranking speakers on a variety of criteria, the Chairs presented their recommended slate of presenters at our March onsite meeting. By actively debating the merits of each speaker, the Chairs met the previously established selection requirements and ensured that only one person from a selected vendor is able to present. This process creates the best mix of vendors and practitioners, and provides attendees the opportunity to attend many types of presentations. A balance of topics, speakers, and companies result in a well-balanced, content-rich program.

Alongside our program creation, we have a team of people working through the logistics of running an excellent conference. The Moscone Center North will be a terrific venue for us this year. The footprint is perfect for networking and having fun, plus it provides easy transitions for conference activities. The feedback you provided last year was taken to heart as we strive to improve this year’s entire conference experience.

I look forward to seeing you in beautiful San Francisco this September. Visit http://itsmfusion.com  today to take advantage of the early bird registration discount.
